The short version

Everything Tucker is recommending as of mid-2026. The current approved list, updated with six months of new data. See full review →

We update Tucker's approved list twice a year. Here's the mid-2026 version, reflecting everything he's evaluated since we started in October 2025 and how his opinions have held up over time.

Food: Still Blue Buffalo Life Protection Formula

Tucker has been eating Blue Buffalo as his primary food for nine months. Engagement has not declined. His coat condition remained stable or improved through the winter. The veterinary assessment in March was positive on all metrics. Tucker has not wavered in his rating: four out of five, consistently, across every week of the trial period. This is his longest-running four-star evaluation. It is the reference point for dog food recommendations on this site.

Toy: The Snuffle Mat (New Entry)

The snuffle mat has displaced the Chuckit Ultra Ball for Tucker's highest engagement hours this year. The Chuckit remains five stars and remains in active use — Tucker brings it to Cole regularly for outdoor sessions. But the snuffle mat delivers the most focused mental engagement of any product Tucker has evaluated, and mental engagement turns out to matter more than we initially weighted it in our evaluation criteria.

Supplement: Zesty Paws Probiotic

The probiotic remains the highest-impact supplement in Tucker's routine, measurable in ways the others aren't. Digestive consistency is visible data. Six months in, the improvement has held. Tucker takes it voluntarily. It's in the current rotation indefinitely.

Bed: Furhaven Orthopedic

The 30-day trial data from February continues to hold. Tucker's morning behavior on the Furhaven remains better than his behavior was on the standard foam bed. Mittens has continued to use it on an irregular basis without any sign of reducing the behavior. The bed is four stars in summer, five stars in fall and winter when the heat-retention tradeoff favors the orthopedic cushioning.

What We're Testing Now

Tucker is currently in week two of evaluating a slow-feeder bowl for his kibble. Early data suggests it extends his meal duration by approximately 300% and increases post-meal calmness. Mittens has not expressed interest in the slow feeder. This is expected. She operates on her own timeline about these things.

Full slow feeder review in July.
