PetFusion Elevated Dog Bowl Stand uses removable stainless steel bowls on a bamboo riser. Elevated feeding reduces neck strain for large and giant breeds and slows eating by requiring a different posture. The stainless bowls are dishwasher-safe.
A 2000 Purdue study suggested elevated feeders increased bloat (GDV) risk. Subsequent research has been inconsistent — some studies support the finding, others show no correlation. The current veterinary consensus: elevated feeding may be appropriate for dogs with neck or shoulder conditions but is not universally recommended for bloat prevention. Consult your vet if GDV risk is a concern.
The stainless bowls remove by lifting straight out of the holder. Both are top-rack dishwasher safe. This makes the PetFusion dramatically easier to maintain than ceramic or weighted non-removable bowl stands.
Large and giant breeds (over 50 lbs) or dogs with neck and shoulder arthritis who benefit from reduced strain at meal time.
Small dogs — elevated bowls have no significant benefit for dogs under 20 lbs.
Buy it for dogs with neck arthritis or for tall breeds where floor-level eating causes obvious discomfort. Skip it purely as bloat prevention.
